Become A Contestant

Code of Conduct 

 

  • Contestants will conduct themselves at all times with dignity, grace and good manners.

  • During rehearsals, all contestants will remain in designated areas at all times.

  • Contestants will not smoke or consume alcoholic beverages at any pageant activity.

  • A contestant will not participate in an interview, photo session, press contact or any type of publicity 

  • Unless a chaperone is present or the press has been approved by the director, contestants should not speak to the press.

  • A contestant will not be in the company of or speak to any judges until after the crowning.

  • Contestants must be ready to go at the times indicated on the schedule. 

  • All rehearsals are closed rehearsals.  No guests, parents or visitors permitted.

 

Those who do not follow the rules may be dismissed.  Guidelines for contestants and titleholders are subject to change each year, as directed by The Miss America Organization.

Miss Lancaster County Scholarship Pageant
  • Contestant must be single and never have been married

  • Contestant must be a U.S. citizen

  • Contestant must be at least 17 years of age AND at least a senior in high school 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age on the first day of  the State competition (June 2018)

  • For the avoidance of doubt, an 18-year-old high school junior or sophomore, but not a graduating senior, must compete at MAOTeen

  • Must not be older than 25 years of age as of December 31, 2018

  • Contestant must be of good moral character

  • Contestant must reside, attend school or work in Pennsylvania.*

 

There are no entry fees charged but each contestant is responsible for raising at least $100 for the Children's Miracle Network as a community service requirement.  

 

*Contestant must prove she is a Pennsylvania resident for the six (6) month period preceding the local pageant date OR Contestant must prove she is a full-time employee in Pennsylvania for the six (6) month period preceding the local pageant date OR Contestant must prove she has successfully completed at least one semester as a full-time (at least 12 credit hours) student and is presently enrolled and attending classes on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university in Pennsylvania.  Also, no more than six (6) months may have elapsed between the completion of last full-time semester attended and the beginning of the next full-time semester to be attended.

Miss Lancaster County's Outstanding Teen Pageant
  • Contestant must be between the ages of 12 and 17 and must turn 13 by the date of the Miss Pennsylvania's Outstanding Teen Pageant (June 2018).  In addition, the contestant may not turn 18 prior to July 31, 2018.

  • Contestant may not have graduated from high school prior to Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in July 2018 unless she graduated early at age 16 or younger.

  • For the avoidance of doubt, 18-year-old high school juniors and sophomores, but not a graduating senior, must compete at MAOTeen.

  • Contestant must be a U.S. citizen

  • Reside in the state of Pennsylvania for 6 months prior to the date of her first competition OR have been a full-time student for one semester in a Pennsylvania High School, Junior High School or Middle School prior to her first competition.

  • Contestant must be of good moral character.

  • Contestant must be enrolled in an accredited public, private or home schooling program.
